We all know that no matter what video game you get these days it is going to have a day one patch along with its install that you have to deal with before you can play it. If you are a digital only gamer you can sometimes avoid this by pre downloading. As I prefer my games physical, I do not have that luxury.
As you would expect Call Of Duty Black Ops IIII has a day one patch, word has come out that this day one patch is around 50 GB! This is huge and as big as many Triple-A games are in general. For people who are short on time to actually play games, this sucks as some folks may have to wait as long as half a day for the game to install and then update.
Some retailers like GAME in the UK are allowing people who have pre-ordered Call Of Duty Black Ops IIII to pick the game up a few hours earlier than the midnight launch. The idea behind this is that the extra few hours will allow for the update to take place.
While it does suck, I think it is a bit harsh for people to be calling out Activision and Treyarch too much as this is something that all big games have these days. I decided that I wanted to play through the Gears of War series again and when I went to reinstall Gears of War 4 (I deleted it after I beat it when it was first released) it required an update as big as what Black Ops IIII requires.
To make this as smooth as possible for you. First of all know going in that you are going to have to wait for an update as well as the install. If you are picking this up in a store, ask them if you can pick it up early. This is something I have heard that most stores are going to do in order to help gamers out. Last, of all, make sure your console or PC has more than enough storage space to fit the game plus the update. The last thing you want is to put the disk in, walk away and come back in a couple of hours to find it is at about 3 percent and asking you to delete something.
